SAMBA, Nov 21: A notorious criminal was detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba district today.
The accused, Alam Din alias Allu, from Manohar Gopala in tehsil Samba, had been involved in multiple criminal cases registered at Police Stations Samba and Majalta in district Udhampur, a police official said.
He said Alam Din’s criminal activities had been a significant threat to public peace and order in the region.
In light of his continued engagement in unlawful acts, the District Magistrate of Samba issued a detention order against him, based on a detailed dossier prepared by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Samba, the police official said.
Acting on the detention order, he said, a team from Police Post Rakh Amb Talli, led by the Incharge of the post, arrested Alam Din and subsequently lodged him in District Jail Kathua.
