Resolution on special status unconstitutional: Sat Sharma

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 21: The resolution seeking special status moved in the Assembly was very unconstitutional and hence has no relevance.
Sat Sharma, president, Jammu and Kashmir BJP, said this while speaking in a seminar on “Unconstitutional Resolution” organized by BJP Legal Cell and Human Rights Cell and attended by state office bearers, MLAs, district and morcha presidents, senior citizens, advocates, intellectuals, businessmen etc.
The seminar began with a welcome address by All Cells Incharge Rakesh Gupta, who said that the intentions behind this resolution were not good. He announced to organize such seminars at district levels in the coming days.
Sat Sharma strongly condemned the resolution, adding that it undermines the democratic principle and federal structure of our nation. It is a blatant attempt to disturb the constitutional balance, which is very unfortunate.
Sham Lal Sharma (MLA Jammu North), in his address, narrated the whole episode that took place in the Assembly on the day of tabling resolution and the connected incidents there. He further said that the business rules were not followed while tabling resolution.
U K Jalali (senior advocate and former Advocate General), in his address, said that the resolution has no legal sanctity in the eyes of law. Any attempt to revisit this issue is unnecessary and will prove harmful.
Senior advocate Sunil Sethi (BJP chief spokesperson) in his address categorically stated that abrogation of Article 370 has already been upheld by the Supreme Court declaring that it has been done within the purview of the Constitution of India.
BJP general secretary and MLA Ramgarh, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, presented the vote of thanks.
Dr Rajesh Thappa (convenor, BJP Legal Cell) conducted the proceedings in the seminar.
All Cells co-incharge Ved Sharma also addressed the seminar.
