Athleticism, motorability, anticipation on display as 11 JK players enter medal bouts round

JAMMU: Athleticism, motorability and anticipation was on display as eleven players from J&K including ten boys and a lone girl entered the medal bouts stage in the ongoing 68th National School Games in the discipline of Wushu, being organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K, under the auspices of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar here on Saturday.

A total of 129 bouts were held today with 115 in the boys category and 14 in the girls category.
The players from J&K, who sealed berth in the medal bouts stage in boys U-17 category were Aniket Lotra in -40kg, Tapish Bharat in -45kg, Tawheed Akbar in -48kg, Rishi Khosla in -52kg, Aayaan Asim Mir in -56kg, Suryansh Singh in -60kg, Mohd Arhaan in -70kg, Mehran Amin in -75kg, Umaan Arif in -80kg and Mohd Haseeb in -85kg, while in girls U-17 category, Saliqa Farooq in -52kg was the lone player to seal berth in medal bouts round.
Earlier, in -40kg weight category, Ankiet Lotra of J&K beat Mayank of CBSE; in -45 kg category
Kapish Bharat Rakwal of J&K trounced Rudra Rathore of MP; in -48 kg category,
Tawheed Akbar Mir of J&K beat Sushil Kumar of Uttar Pradesh; in -52 kg category, Rishi Khosla of J&K defeated Pritam Ghosh of West Bengal in his first match and got the better of Digvijay of Chandigarh in the second match.
In -56 kg category, Aayaan Asim Mir of J&K beat Porush Khatri of Delhi in his first match and beat Love Sankhla of CBSE in his second match while in -60 kg category, Suryansh Singh of J&K drubbed Aryan Mondal of West Bengal and in -75 kg category Mehran Amin Bangoo of Jammu and Kashmir prevailed over Kartik Tiwari of Vidhya Bharati. In -80 kg category, Umaan Arif of J&K beat Pawan Kumar of Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, around 600 players and officials drawn from 21 States/UTs across the country are taking part in this mega event, which is as part of the historic series of 68th National School Games in the disciplines of Judo, Fencing, Wushu and Football, wherein around 4000 athletes and officials across the country are taking part.
These Games are being held under the patronage of Minister for Sports, Satish Sharma; Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez and under the chairmanship of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara.
