JKEEGA decries step motherly treatment to Power enggs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 29: An emergency joint executive body meeting of Jammu and Kashmir regions of JKEEGA was held under the chairmanship of Pirzada Hidaytullah, president JKEEGA and Sachin Tickoo general secretary JKEEGA, and participated among others by all the Executive Council members from both the regions.
The meeting assumed significance in wake of the continuous neglect and alienation on HR issues being felt by the Power engineers of J&K despite elected government in place now.
Throwing light on the issues Pirzada Hidayatullah and Sachin Tickoo in a joint press statement briefed that basic HR issues like regularization of Engineers, assured career progression despite cabinet decision, issuance of promotions orders of approved files, issuance of posting orders, charge allowance in respect of In charge promotions which in other departments take a single stroke of pen are delayed by years all together.
Further it was briefed that administrative department of JKPDD has failed to implement SAC order of 2019 which had ordered regularization of all Power engineers to be completed in two months time back then.
It is pertinent to mention here that the current lot of all the Engineers including the Executive Director/Chief Engineer is Assistant Engineer on substantive basis and none of the working engineers is above the grade of Assistant Engineer, therefore all the impediments and hurdles need to be cleared in order to regularize the services of the serving/retired engineers and adhere to the State Administrative Council decision dated 22.10.2019 which had stipulated that the process of regularization be completed before November 2019.
Further scores of posts at all levels from Junior Engineer to Chief Engineer level are lying vacant. Apart from this, despite of massive reforms in Power sector which was possible only after strenuous efforts by engineers of JKPDD across both regions, the Power Engineers are being put to mental agony.
It was also discussed threadbare that no positive step for settlement of issues like reinstatement of suspended engineers who have been suspended a year before for no fault of theirs on account of relatively lower billing efficiencies, creation of enforcement wing and disbursement of salary through paysys have been taken.
The Council after detailed deliberations decided to call meeting of Guidance Councils of JKEEGA, an apex body on Dec 4, 2024 both at Jammu and Kashmir to chalk out future course of action.
