KATHUA, Nov 29: A meeting to review the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G) scheme was held today here under the chairmanship of the Director General of Rural Sanitation, Anoo Malhotra.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Danish Rasool Mir and Block Development Officers (BDOs) from across the district.
Key discussions centered on the progress and challenges in implementing the SBM-G scheme, particularly focusing on door-to-door waste collection and the imposition of user charges in each block.
The DG directed the BDOs to prioritize door-to-door waste collection to enhance cleanliness. The status of Plastic Waste Management Units, Segregation Sheds, CSCs and IHHLs was also reviewed with instructions issued to ensure their functionality at the earliest.
Additionally, officials were tasked with identifying suitable landfill sites for proper waste disposal.
Emphasizing sustainability, the DG urged officials to ensure the functionality and longevity of all SBM-G assets in the district. The meeting concluded with a commitment to expediting efforts for a cleaner and more sustainable Kathua.
