Shivani wins Gold in 28th North Zone Sport Climbing C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 29: Shivani Charak, the top climber of Jammu and Kashmir, made history by securing a Gold medal in Lead climbing at the 28th North Zone Sport Climbing Championship, held at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi.
In a fiercely contested event, Shivani faced off against Ritika Rawat of Delhi, both of whom reached the same height. However, the outcome was determined by the time taken to achieve it, with Shivani completing the climb in 3.08 minutes, edging out Ritika, who took 3.38 minutes.
In addition to Shivani’s success, Siraj ud Din and Rudra Raput also qualified for the final round in the Lead climbing competition in the Sub-junior Boys category, showcasing the rising talent in J&K’s climbing community.
Meanwhile, Arun Deep Singh from J&K, a strong contender, participated in the Men’s Bouldering event, with the competition continuing in various categories. The J&K team, led by Divisional Sports Officer Baljinder Pal Singh, is expected to perform well in the ongoing events.
