JAMMU, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) showcased exceptional teamwork to defeat Maharashtra by 3-1 in a thrilling encounter on Day three of the ongoing 68th National School Games U-17 Boys Football tournament.
The match, played at Khel Gaon Nagrota, was part of the month-long event organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
Jammu and Kashmir’s victory was spearheaded by Aayan Bilal, who scored twice, and Muzamil Lateef, who netted the third goal. The win marked a significant achievement for the team in the highly competitive tournament, as they outplayed a strong Maharashtra side. The match was one of the 28th played on the day, with several other exciting encounters unfolding across various grounds in Nagrota.
Other notable results from Day three included impressive victories for Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Jharkhand. Arunachal Pradesh dominated CBSE WSO with a crushing 14-0 win, while Jharkhand thrashed Andhra Pradesh by 8-0. Haryana also made a statement, blanking Puducherry by a big margin of 12-0.
In other matches, Manipur triumphed over IPSC by 2-1, Assam defeated Lakshadweep by 2-1 and Delhi won by 2-0 against CISE. West Bengal stunned KVS with a commanding 8-1 victory. At Sainik School Nagrota, Meghalaya triumphed by 5-0 over CBSE, and Karnataka outclassed DNHDD by 6-0.
