JAMMU, Dec 7: The 36th Jammu District Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls organized by Jammu district Volleyball Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) commenced at MA Stadium, here today
In the 2-day championship has as many as total 14 teams, 10 in boys section and 4 in girls section drawn from areas like Pallanwala, Pargwal, Marh, R.S Pura, Nagrota and Jammu.
The Championship was inaugurated by the chief guest, Raj Singh Gouria, Commandant IRP 18th Bn Jammu.
H.S Gill Secretary Jammu District Volleyball Association gave an account of the championship which would shortlist Jammu district Boys and Girls team for the upcoming 36th JK UT level Championship being held from December 13 to 15 at Jammu by VAJK.
Amongst dignitaries Manmeet Singh, president Jammu district Volleyball Association; Chief Executive Officer VAJK, Kuldip Magotra; R.C Sharma, treasurer; Rajiv Dogra, Senior Volleyball Coach; Prateek Kumar, SAI Coach and Mulkhraj Sharma attended the inaugural function.
The chief guest was presented a memento by office bearers of Jammu district Volleyball Association.
Referees in the matches are Anil Kumar, Mulkhraj and Rasiq.
In matches played today, in boys section, Pargwal beat Stadium XI by 2-0 (25-19, 25-21); Aghore beat Nagrota by 2-0 (25-19, 25-20); Border Lions Pallwanwala beat Aghore by 2-0 (25-20, 25-21) and SAI Jammu beat Marh Warriors by 2-0 (25-19, 28-26).
In 1st semi-final, SAI Jammu beat Prayal by 2-0 (25-17, 25-21); in 2nd semi-final, Border Lions Pallanwala beat Pargwal by 2-0 (25-16, 25-22).
In girls section, Trikuta Junior beat APS Domana by 2-0 (25-18, 25-17) and Trikuta Senior beat Army Children Club by 2-0 (25-13, 25-14).
In boys section final matches will be played between SAI Jammu and Border Lions Pallanwala.
The finals will be played at 1 pm at MA Stadium.
