Girl thrown into river by aunt dies

Srinagar, Dec 7: A five-year-old girl thrown off the Rajbagh Bridge by her mentally distressed aunt three days ago died today.
The girl identified as Hadaya daughter of Tahir Mushtaq succumbed to her injuries at Srinagar’s Super Specialty Hospital after battling multiple injuries.
A police official said that the little girl was accompanied by her aunt, who allegedly threw her off the fence of the bridge, and the child reportedly fell on the concrete base below and suffered severe injuries.
The officer disclosed that during questioning, the aunt revealed she was on antidepressant medication and had been experiencing panic attacks.
The authorities at Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital said that the little girl was initially admitted there but was later shifted to the Super Specialty Hospital, where she passed away in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kothi Bagh Police Station. The officer said that the FIR was initially registered under number 70/2024-109 BNS for attempted murder. After the girl’s death, it was updated to 103/BNS, and the woman has been arrested.
