2nd Masters’ Badminton tournament 2024 concludes

JAMMU, Dec 16: The 2nd Masters’ Badminton Tournament 2024 concluded at the Police Line Badminton Hall, Gulshan Ground, here today. The event organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the Badminton Association of J&K, saw enthusiastic participation from athletes across the region.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, where he awarded the winners and runners-up. The ceremony was also attended by Gulzar Singh Slathia, former IGP, PD Singh, R.K. Sodhi, Dharam Pal Gupta, and Raj Pal Sharma, who were honoured as guests of honour. DySPs Sultan Mirza and Basanti Bhat also graced the event.
In the Mix Doubles (MD) 120+ category, the winners were Avnish Sharma and Ramesh, defeating Balbir Jamwal and Vivek Mehta with scores of 21-14, 15-21, 21-18. In the Mix Doubles (MD) 80+ category, Vikas Sharma and Vivek Mehta emerged as winners, beating Sumit Sharma and Anil Sharma (Reasi) by 21-16, 15-21, 21-19.
The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the importance of steering young players away from mobile phones and drugs. The matches were officiated by Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha, and S. Saravanan under the supervision of Sukhdev Singh.
