JAMMU, Dec 18: Reminding National Conference (NC) Government of its poll promises, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supported the demand of employees and pensioners demanding release three per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) and enhancement of Medical Allowance of Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, said Girdhari Lal Raina, spokesperson, J&K BJP while talking to reporters here, today.
NC had, in its election manifesto, promised moon to the employees and pensioners that included reinstatement “of the Old Pension Scheme” (OPS), “increase the Medical Allowance of pensioners and family pensioners”, formulate “policy for regularization in a time bound manner” and “thoroughly examine all demands of J&K employees” and review cases of terminated employees. But as is evident NC-Congress alliance Government has failed to fulfil all its poll promises.
People of Jammu Kashmir are pained to see that the new elected Government is following the footsteps of INDI Alliance Governments in other states like neighbouring Himachal Pardesh and Karnataka in South who instead of fulfilling promises made prior to polls have punished the population of their respective states by imposing new taxes like toilet taxes proposing to charge per toilet seat.
Bharatiya Janata Party supports genuine demands of employees and pensioners and calls upon Omar Government to live up to its promises. BJP JK repeats and reminds people of Jammu Kashmir about the failure of NC Government to address grievance of people about which the NC party used to drumbeat before elections.
BJP cautions and condemns this attitude of changing stances from one held while in opposition or outside Government taking completely reverse position when in office.
BJP expects the ruling party and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to focus on issues of people’s welfare and not on political rhetoric.
