MUMBAI, Dec 18: The BSE Sensex remained negative for the third straight session on Wednesday, tumbling down 502.25 pts to close at 80,182.20 ahead of the Federal Reserve Meet outcome.
The investors are awaiting the decision of Federal Reserve Monetary policy.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 137.15 pts at 24,198.85.
The BSE Sensex opened at 80,666.26, easing 18 pts. During the day it tanked 634 pts at 80,050.07 days low, before closing at 80,182.20, down 502.25 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,394.45 pts and by 24,149.8 pts respectively.
The stocks that lost were Utilities by 2.06 pc, Power by 1.78 pc, Capital Goods by 1.56 pc and Metal by 1.44 pc.
The Mid-cap eased by 0.61 pc and the Small cap by 0.76 pc.
In 30 scrips, 8 advanced while 22 declined.
The losers were Tata Motors by 2.75 pc to Rs 157.90, Power grid by 2.42 pc to Rs 322, NTPC by 1.85 pc to Rs 342.80, and Adani Ports by 1.66 pc to Rs 1211.60.
The gainers were TCS by 0.71 pc to Rs 4355, Reliance Industries by 0.67 pc to Rs 1253.50, Sun Pharma by 0.63 pc to Rs 1800.75 and Tech Mahindra by 0.50 pc to Rs 1778.65.
