An official statement issued after the meeting said, Shah, in his address, declared that they will achieve the goal of terror-free Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest and all resources will be made available for this.

Security situation not only in the Kashmir valley but the Jammu region was also in the focus at the high-level meeting as the year 2024 saw surge in terror attacks in Kathua, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts. A number of soldiers were martyred in the terror attacks while nine Shiv Khori pilgrims also lost their lives in Reasi on June 9. A large number of terrorists were also eliminated, both in the hinterland as well as the borders.
Additional troops of Army, paramilitary forces, Special Operations Group (SOG) and JKP have been deployed in sensitive areas and new pickets have been created to keep strict surveillance on the terrorists and eliminate them.
This was first high-level review of security situation in Jammu and Kashmir by the Home Minister after elected Government was formed on October 16 following the Assembly elections held after nearly a decade.
