Dogri Manyata Diwas celebrations held

JAMMU, Dec 21: In connection with Dogri Manyata Diwas, various programmes were organized by social and literary organizations, here today.
Senior Citizen Support Service Club Chowadhi Jammu, in collaboration with Duggar Manch, Nami Dogri Sanstha, Viraj Kala Kendra and DADAA, organized a walk on Saturday to create awareness amongst the masses to raise balanced voice to put fourth issues of negleet of Dogri language, festival, script and heritage.
The walk was held at Channi Himmat and the participants included student of NSK High School Channi Himmat, representatives of various organizations and social activists.
The walk was flagged off by Arshad Chowdhary, Chairman Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust along with Padamshri Mohan Singh of Duggar Manch and Ajay Gupta, former Corporator.
Vikram Randhawa MLA Bahu constituency, was chief guest of the event. Among the personalities who were present in the event included Rajnesh Gupta (Viraj Kala Kendra), Prof Padam Dev, Yashpal Yesh (Nami Dogri Sanstha), Sushil Bhola (National Awami United Party), Janak Khajuria (DDAAA) and members of the club Maj Gen (Rtd) S K Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Kailash Langer, Jagdish Langer, Verinder Gupta, S K Jain, HC Vaid, Ashok Gupta, Suresh Samyal, Anil Gupta, Anju Bansal, Navneet Kour, Abinandan Jain, Ashok Khajuria, Dr Rakesh Khajuria, Rakesh Gupta and others.
Dr Kasturi Lal, Chairman of the club, said that the event was organized to sensitize different stakeholders through a campaign which underscores the importance of integrating mother language into broader academic curriculum.
Maj Gen (Retd) S K Sharma, president of the Club, presented welcome address while general secretary Vijay Sharma presented vote of thanks.
Celebrating “Dogri Bhasha Mannata Dhiadda”, Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) organised a special function to release the “Sanstha Geet” and felicitate the distinguished personalities of Duggar .
Ajay Sadhotra, former Minister, was chief guest on the occasion and Advocate K Nirmal Kotwal, President J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu, presided over the event. The dais was shared by Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila President NDS and Prof Anupama Sharma, Patron NDS .
“NDS Geet” written by Yash Pal Yash, composed by Kuldeep Saproo and melodiously sung by Prof Anupama Sharma and her co-singers was released on the occasion. Ravi Sharma an eminent Santoor maestro and Jatinder Kaur, an eminent singer, were honoured on the occasion.
Ajay Sadhotra said that lot of work is required to be done after inclusion of Dogri in 8th schedules. He assured all support from the Government in this regard .
Nirmal Kotwal observed that the “Mannata Dhiadda” should be celebrated as collective festival in the entire Duggar. Dr Chanchal Sharma extended vote of thanks in the end .
Department of Dogri in collaboration with NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra, celebrated “Dogri Manyta Diwas”. Head of the Dogri Department, Prof Pooja Sharma, spoke about the importance of this day.
Students enthusiastically participated in the event. Sunil Kumar of B A Sem-I presented a speech in which he spoke about the importance of Dogri language. After that, Gourav Sharma and Simran Rani of BA and B Com Sem-I recited Dogri poems. Kajal Kumari and Kajal of BA Sem-III and BA Sem-I presented a lively dance performance on Dogri folk song. Ritish Jamwal and Piyush of BA and B Com Sem-I danced to the tunes of Dogri songs.
Dr Harpreet Kour, HoD Political Science stressed that we all should adopt Dogri in our day to day life. Program concluded with vote of thanks by Prof Pooja Sharma. Program was organised under guidance of Principal of the College, Dr G S Rakwal.
Namaan Duggar Kala Manch Bhambla (Pouni) celebrated ‘Dogri Manyata Diwas’ with great zeal and cultural fervor at Government Middle School (GMS), Bal Sro Amb, Jammu. The highlight of the event was a Kavi Sammelan.
The event was graced by retired Director School Education Jammu and renowned poet Darshan Darshi, who served as the chief guest. Sahitya Akademi Awardee Vijay Verma attended as the guest of honour, along with celebrated music composer Brij Mohan, Shiv Dev Singh Susheel, retired ZEOs Gopal Krishan Komal and P D Bali, Kabla Singh, Incharge Principal GHSS Banna (Reasi) Daleep Sharma, Om Parkash Bhajwalia and ex-Sarpanch Bal Sro Amb.
Mohinder Dass Guddu, President of Namaan Duggar Kala Manch, threw light on importance of the day.
Renowned poets such as Gopal Krishan Komal, Shiv Dev Singh Susheel, Vijay presented poem while vote of thanks was delivered by Vinod Kumar Sharma, Incharge Headmaster of GMS Bal Sro Amb.
In connection with the Dogri Manyata Diwas celebrations- 2024, Watch-O-Suno Dogri today felicitated three prominent Dogri language lovers from different sections of society. The awardees include Dr Praveen Yograj, a medico by profession, Dr Padam Dev Singh, Assistant Professor at Jammu University and Mukesh Gupta, a journalist.
They were awarded for making unique efforts to promote Dogri speaking especially amongst the younger generation of the society. Dr Praveen Yograj has recently transformed the information display board outside his clinic to Dogri language (Takri). Dr Padam Dev’s passion for Dogri clearly reflects in his reels on social media while Mukesh Gupta, Editor in Chief of Weekly Shiv Jyoti, the one and only Dogri language newspaper. Jagmohan Sharma, the founder of Watch-O- Suno Dogri, presented the award, which includes a memento and a shawl.
