JAMMU, Dec 21: A monumental work in the preservation of Kashmir Shaivism was unveiled at the Amritesh Mahadev Mandir with the release of the transcription of Swami Lakshman Joo’s illuminating discourses to his devotees on Œri Tantraloka, here.
This transcription of the discourses in Kashmiri language, meticulously undertaken in the using Devnagari script by Krishan Chand Pandita, stands as a testament to his dedication to preserving the spiritual and cultural legacy of Kashmir.
Swami Lakshman Joo, hailed as the greatest master of Kashmir Shaivism ,in the 20th century, devoted his life to unravelling the esoteric teachings of the Kashmir Shaivism school. His discourses on Œri Tantraloka, the magnum opus by Mahamaheswara Acharya Abhinavagupta, provide an intricate exploration of the philosophical, metaphysical, and practical aspects of Kashmir Shaivism. Krishan Chand Pandita’s transcription ensures that these timeless teachings are accessible to both contemporary and future generations.
The release event marked not only a literary milestone but also a heartfelt tribute to Krishan Chand Pandita, fondly remembered as Master Ji. Eminent scholar and spiritual leader, Pran Nath Koul , speaking at the event, described the work as a cornerstone in the preservation of Kashmir Shaivism. “This transcription is a labour of love and devotion,” he said. “It is a true offering to the legacy of Swami Lakshman Joo and the timeless philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism. Krishan Chand Pandita’s contribution will resonate across ages.
The Ishwar Ashram Trust, custodians of Swami Lakshman Joo’s teachings, expressed pride in this remarkable achievement. “ Krishan Chand Pandita poured his heart and soul into this project. Today, we celebrate his vision and dedication. This book is his eternal gift to the world,” a spokesperson for the Trust said.
