Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh moderated the programme from New Delhi.
Addressing the fresh appointees virtually from New Delhi in the ‘Rozgar Mela’ held at 45 locations across the country including two places in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said never before in the tenure of any previous Government were jobs provided in such a “mission mode”.
He said honesty and transparency have driven the recruitment process and ‘Rozgar Melas’ like the one held today are empowering the youth, who are full of new confidence and are succeeding in every sector.
The Prime Minister noted that a large number of recruits are women saying it is also an endeavour of the Government that they become self-dependent in every field.
The National Education Policy has taken steps for the development of youngsters, he said, adding his Government has ensured that language is not a barrier by ensuring that youngsters can take recruitment exams in 13 Indian languages.
Moderating the programme from the Union capital, Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh said over 39,000 candidates from reserved categories have been given appointment letters for Government jobs during today’s ‘Rozgar Mela’
“This is a strong affirmation of the Centre’s commitment to social equity,” he said in his address.
“Of 71,000 job letters given today, 39,118 were from reserved categories,” he said highlighting the significant representation of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs),” Dr Jitendra Singh said and emphasized that the initiative reflects the Government’s focus on creating equitable opportunities besides fostering inclusive growth across the country.
Stressing on the Government’s commitment to social equity, he said that 29.21 per cent of the new appointments belong to the OBC, marking a 27 per cent increase in recruitment for the community compared to the preceding decade.
Additionally, 15.8 per cent of appointments were allocated to SC and 9.59 per cent to ST, the Minister said.
This increase demonstrates the unwavering focus of the Modi Government on empowering traditionally marginalised sections of society, Dr Jitendra Singh said and underscored a fourfold rise in filling backlog vacancies for reserved categories, with numbers surging from 1,08,000 between 2004 and 2014 to 4,00,000 in the past decade.
“This reflects the Government’s priority towards bridging the gaps in employment for these communities,” he added.
“Women’s representation received a notable boost, with approximately 5,000 of the newly appointed individuals joining the paramilitary forces, symbolising the administration’s emphasis on gender inclusion in traditionally male-dominated fields,” Dr Jitendra Singh said.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, Union Minister of State BL Verma distributed appointment letters among the youth at BSF Headquarters at Paloura in Jammu in the presence of senior BSF officers.
A total of 636 appointment letters were distributed among new recruits, with Verma personally handing out 26.
Addressing, Verma lauded the BSF for its role in safeguarding India’s borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan.
“I would like to especially congratulate the BSF, which protects our borders. Having worked on the development of the northeast, I have observed the challenges and progress in these border States,” Verma told reporters after addressing the event.
“The situation in Bangladesh is a matter of concern, but our Government and our External Affairs Ministry are closely monitoring it and will continue to do so,” he said.
On allegations of electoral fraud made by the Congress, the Union Minister slammed the Opposition party for its inconsistency.
“Congress ruled the country for nearly 55 years but failed to deliver the development we have witnessed in the past decade under Prime Minister Modi. Elections are now conducted in a completely free and fair manner. However, Congress only accepts election results as fair when they win. When they lose, they blame EVMs and allege fraud,” he said.
On Rahul Gandhi’s call for a caste census, Verma asked why the Congress which ruled for decades did not conduct it while it was in power.
“The Gandhi family ruled the country for nearly 55 years, often through remote control, yet never felt the need for a caste census. It is Prime Minister Modi who has ensured dignity and respect for OBCs, SCs and STs. Congress stalled the first report in 1955 and the Mandal Commission, denying OBCs their rightful reservations. Today, OBCs have a Constitutional board, and I, as an OBC, serve as a Minister. This shows the change brought by the BJP,” he said.
“Since 2014, India has been advancing rapidly on the path of development, with a notable increase in employment opportunities. Over the past nine years, 10 lakh jobs have been provided by the Prime Minister. I congratulate all the appointees,” he added.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar presided over the `Rozgar Mela’ at BSF Headquarters at Humhama in Budgam district of the Kashmir valley.
He distributed 107 appointment letters among the youth in the presence of senior BSF officers.
Addressing the function, Dr Kumar highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to provide jobs to the youth in mission mode.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs.
