New Year Celebrations: Jammu RTO Issues Advisory For Public

Jammu, Dec 27: In view of the upcoming New Year celebrations, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) on Friday issued an advisory and guidelines for the public.
The Advisory said, “as the New Year approaches, the Motor Vehicles Department urges all youngsters to celebrate New Year responsibly by avoiding stunting, rash driving, racing, and over speeding.”
“These dangerous practices not only put your life at risk but also endanger others on the road,” it said further instructing that say no to stunts and racing as performing stunts or engaging in races on public roads is illegal and extremely hazardous, so choose safety over thrills.
“Over speeding reduces your ability to react and control your vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs and use a designated driver or book a cab,” the Advisory said.
It further asked to always wear a seat belt if driving a car or a helmet if riding a two-wheeler.
“Adhere to all traffic signals and road signs, respect other road users, refrain from using mobile phones or other distractions while driving,” it said, adding that use only designated space for parking to avoid traffic obstructions or penalties.
The Motor Vehicles Department enforcement teams will be actively monitoring roads throughout the night to ensure public safety while strict action, including fines, suspension of licenses, and even vehicle seizure, will be taken against violators indulging in rash driving, racing, stunting, or over speeding and overloading, it read.
“Young drivers play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safe driving. Be a responsible citizen by prioritizing safety and encouraging your peers to do the same. Reckless driving might seem exciting, but it’s never worth the risk to your life or the lives of others,” the Advisory said, asking youngsters to celebrate new year responsibly and make safety a top priority.
