JAMMU, Jan 4: A one-day orientation cum training programme on Inclusive Education (Children with Special Needs) was organized by Inclusive Education Cell of SCERT, Jammu Division at SCERT, J&K, Divisional Office, Jammu. The programme aimed to promote inclusive education and provide educators with the skills and knowledge needed to support children with special needs.
The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and invocation of knowledge and wisdom, by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department, JKUT, joined by Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director SCERT, Ashok Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu. Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT, Jammu, and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director CRC Jammu. The occasion also included the recital of the National Anthem, adding a patriotic fervour to the event.
Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT, Jammu Division delivered an inspiring welcome address that set a positive tone for the Programme.
The Programme was formally Inaugurated by Suresh Kumar Gupta while addressing the gathering,he provided insights on the importance of inclusive education and the role of educators in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment in Schools. He discussed about the World Braille Day history and stressed upon the passion and effective implementation of NEP at grassroots level.
The event was marked by the official release of vision documents prepared by SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu. Arti Gupta Assistant Professor, SCERT Jammu. An overview of the Balvatika Workbooks for Pre-School I, II & III was presented by Dr.Sanjeevani Sharma Head ECCE-Department, SCERT, Jammu.
Pawan Vivek, Sr. Academic Officer, SCERT Jammu, sensitized the gathering about “Mera Gaon Meri Pathshala” guidelines for mapping of local areas and school history. Bindia Bhalwal, Academic Officer, SCERT Jammu, briefed about “Suno Kahani”and its title song was released.
Concept note and overview of the programme was delivered by Rukhsana Gulbadan, Coordinator. Yugal Kishore acted as Associate Coordinator.
An engaging presentation about inclusive education was delivered by Dr. Rohnika Sharma Director CRC Jammu followed by enlightening sessions by renowned experts in the field of inclusive education. Dr. Aksa, Associate Professor GCW Parade Jammu, deliberated on ‘Identification of children with special needs’ and Neha Kalra, district resource person Samagra Jammu shared her experiences on supporting children with special needs in inclusive classrooms under RPWD-ACT.
Sukriti, a remarkable student resource person pursuing her Master’s degree in Mathematics, despite living with special needs, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address.
The valedictory function was presided over by Prof. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT and Raj Kumar Chadha, Coordinator Samagra Shiksha J&K.
Dr. Rohini Sharma Head-Inclusive Education, SCERT Jammu proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was moderated by Manu Vasudev Academic Officer and the organizing team consisted of Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr.Rohini Sharma, Monika Dogra, Pawan Vivek, Sushil Hiteshi, Kavya Sharma, Kamini Verma, Meena Thakur.
The whole programme was technically coordinated by Yogesh Kumar and Akash Khajuria.
