Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Jan 11: Crime Branch (CB) has registered cases against ten individuals, including three former and serving officials—a Deputy Inspector of the Fisheries Department, a former Forester, and a Head Constable of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP)—for allegedly using fake qualification certificates to secure Government jobs and promotions. Additionally, seven other persons have been booked for submitting forged documents before the court of law.
The action was initiated based on complaints received from various sources.
In the first case, a complaint by Shokat Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed from Bani (Kathua district), led to the registration of a case against Mohd Farid, a former Deputy Inspector in the Fisheries Department, for using a fake 8th-grade school leaving certificate to obtain his Government job.
In another case, the Divisional Forest Officer Jammu, acting on a complaint by Parveen Kumar, son of Pathu Ram from Thandi Choi, reported that former Forester Raghubir Singh of Akhnoor (Jammu) had used a fake graduation mark-sheet to secure a promotion to Deputy Forester.
Similarly, a case was registered against IRP Head Constable Mohd Munshi of Rajouri, following a grievance lodged by complainant Lal Hussain. The accused allegedly used a fake qualification certificate to join the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department.
Further, acting on the directions of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu, an FIR was registered against seven individuals for preparing and using a forged compromise agreement before the Court of Sub-Registrar Munsiff Jammu. The accused include Abdul Karim, Mohd Yousaf, Mohd Hussain, Hussain Mohd, and Abdul Gafoor, all residents of Kupar Nagrota (Jammu), along with Nazir Ahmed from Katal Batal (Jammu) and Sadiq Mohd from Paloura (Upper Gujjar Mohalla, Jammu).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that four separate FIRs—bearing numbers 01/2025, 02/2025, 03/2025 and 04/2025—have been registered at the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu. Investigations are underway to uncover further details in each case.
