The massive demolition and anti- encroachment drive was conducted by JDA in close coordination with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), District Administration and Police.
The areas with large-scale recent encroachments that include Dingyali, Gulshan Nagar, and Asrarabad in revenue villages Majeen and Ragoora, Sidhra were identified for the drive as despite issuing notices/warning in such areas, the land mafia along with team of contractors and massive labour force continued their activities.
During the drive, JDA demolished 12 illegal houses and 4 plinths thus retrieving 10 kanals of JDA land on the spot, besides giving a strong message to all illegal encroachers and other builders in the area that no one will get away with impunity and all encroachers are subject to law.
According to JDA Vice-Chairman, Pankaj Sharma, the drive was a success, not only in removing illegal encroachments but also in raising awareness among residents about the importance of knowing the procedure for carrying out construction on the land with clear title under ownership as Government or JDA land shall be retrieved by the administration without fail.
“People should ensure construction of housing after varying the title of land and following due procedure for construction of buildings,” he said and advised public not to construct buildings on the occupied JDA land in Ragoora, Majeen, and Sidhra areas.
Pertinent to mention that JDA, in the recent time, has activated its anti-encroachment and demolition drive against land mafia as well as against building violations. Few days back a notice was issued to all coloniser and individual public for observing the building bye laws as well as getting their colonies registered and following the due procedure for getting change of land use sanctioned by the JDA within its jurisdiction.
15 unauthorized commercial and residential structures were recently sealed by JDA at Ramgarh, Bishnah, Bari Brahmana and Vijaypur while fresh structures raised on JDA land at Kalka Colony and Belicharana were also removed.
