JAMMU, Jan 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association has elected its new office-bearers, with Ashwani Kumar Raina taking over as president. The elections were held on November 17, 2024, at the Sher-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar and were supervised by Musbat Ismail, Deputy Legal Remembrancer, Ansuja Tak, Advocate and Standing Counsel of the J&K Sports Council.
The election process faced a legal hurdle when the former president filed an application, but after hearing both sides, the court dismissed the application, allowing the results to proceed, as per handout issued.
The newly elected leadership includes Rajesh Kapoor and Kirtipal Sharma as Vice Presidents, Rajesh Chandan as general secretary, and Sanjeev Singh Jamwal as treasurer. Masrat Ahmad Shah and Sulekha Kundal have been appointed joint secretaries. The executive members are Adv. Pranab Sharma, Arjun Sharma, Sohail Ahmed Lone, Sajjad Ahmad Parry, Vikram Singh Slathia, Arushi Sharma, Mohd. Aslam, and Nissar Ahmad Mir.
The new team is committed to fostering the growth of handball in Jammu and Kashmir by focusing on infrastructure development, grassroots training, and nurturing young talent.
