India’s stance on Aksai Chin

Sir,
Brigadier Anil Gupta’s detailed exposition on the Aksai Chin dispute underscores the strategic and historical significance of this contested region. China’s recent administrative actions, establishing new counties in Aksai Chin, blatantly challenge India’s sovereignty and disregard ongoing diplomatic efforts.
India’s strong objection is both justified and necessary. Aksai Chin has been an integral part of Ladakh since its annexation in 1842. The Chinese occupation post-1962, coupled with their expansionist tactics, highlights the need for a firm response.
India must continue to assert its claims and oppose any attempts to alter the status quo. Diplomatic engagements must be complemented by robust international advocacy to uphold India’s territorial integrity.
