JAMMU, Jan 18: The second day of the ‘Inter-Zonal Display Your Talent 2024-25’ competition, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, showcased a vibrant display of talent across various disciplines.
The event, held at the University of Jammu, featured competitions in Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrumental Percussion & Non-Percussion, Folk Instrumental, Cartooning, Painting, Installation and Mehandi.
The competition attracted participants from five zones of Jammu province-Tawi Zone, Pir Panjal Zone, Devika Zone, Ravi Zone, and Chenab Zone. Winners from the zonal competitions across various colleges participated in the inter-zonal level event, held to promote cultural engagement and creativity among students.
In Classical Vocal, the top performers were Arpana (First) and Paras (Second) from the Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), followed by Gayatri (Third) from GCW Parade. In Classical Instrumental Percussion, Navraj Singh from IMFA claimed first place. The Classical Instrumental Non-Percussion category saw Sobia Kouser and Tashi Dorje from IMFA take first place, with Rashi Sharma from GCW Parade securing third.
In Folk Instrumental, Sunil Kumar from GDC Kathua earned a Certificate of Merit. The Cartooning competition was won by Ishwariya from IMFA (First), followed by Rahul from GDC Udhampur (Second) and Pankaj Kumar from Udhampur Campus (Third).
In Installation, the teams of Poonam Sambyal and Riya Chib from IMFA won first place, while Mehak and Palvi from GDC Akhnoor secured second place, and Vandita Nandan from UIET Kathua took third. In Painting, Shazad Ahmed from IMFA won first place followed by Shalini Sharma from GDC Akhnoor (Second) and Bharti Verma from IMFA (Third). Certificates of Merit were awarded to Anisha from GDC Ramnagar and Manvi Rathore from GCW Udhampur.
In the Mehandi competition, Gurleen Kaur from GDC Bhagwati Nagar won first place, while Roshan Kumar from Kathua Campus and Enamika Sharma from the Department of Sociology secured second and third places, respectively.
The event was attended by Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha , Prof. Sarika Manhas, Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Shallu Sharma & Dr. A.R. Manhas, Dr. Harleen Kaur & Dr. Ripudaman Parihar, Mansi Mantoo, Sumeet Sharma and Ifra Kak.
The event’s esteemed adjudicators for music included Prof. Harvinder Singh (SNA Awardee), V.K. Sambyal, Prof. Usha Bagati, Purshottam Kumar and Arundeep Singh. The fine arts competition was judged by Suman Gupta, M.A. Al Nasir, Reecha Gupta, Mansi Rattan, Manoj Chopra and Chander Shekhar.
The winners will be felicitated on January 20 at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. The next round of events, including Debate, Elocution, Quiz, Rangoli, Clay Modelling, Photography, Collage, and Poster Making, will take place on January 19.
