JAMMU, Jan 20: To accelerate the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) and achieve the Prime Minister’s target of eliminating the disease by 2025, a Mobile Medical Unit was flagged off from SDH R.S. Pura. This initiative is aimed at reaching vulnerable rural populations for screening and treatment as part of the 100 Days to TB Elimination Campaign.
The launch ceremony was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. Rakesh Magotra, Director Health Services Jammu, with guidance from Dr. Harbaksh Singh, CMO Jammu, and supervision from Dr. Monika Kotwal, BMO R.S. Pura. The mobile unit, equipped with a Hand Held X-ray unit, will travel across the block to screen residents and ensure comprehensive TB care.
The event was attended by Dr. Jyoti Jolly, Dr. Monika Suri and Dr. Navneet Kaur, who will play key roles in outreach efforts. Dr. Navneet Kaur, founder chairperson of NGO SUPPORT, is also contributing to the campaign’s rural outreach.
The campaign aims to provide additional support to TB patients to improve treatment outcomes, increase community involvement, and ensure India’s commitment to end TB by 2025. The Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative will also offer diagnostic, nutritional, and vocational support to TB patients, enhancing overall care and recovery.
