JAMMU, Jan 28: Prominent Bollywood actor from Jammu, Mukesh Rishi is set to appear in the upcoming mythological drama Kannappa, a highly anticipated film that has already captured audience attention.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is being produced as a dream project of Manchu Vishnu on a grand scale. Featuring a stellar cast from Tollywood, Kollywood and Bollywood, the film has garnered immense anticipation. Other cast of the film includes Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, Madhoo, Brahmaji and Preethi Mukundan.
Manchu Vishnu and Mohan Babu are producing the film under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments. With a budget exceeding Rs 100 crores, the production boasts high-end visual effects and music composed by Stephen Devasi. The film is slated for release on April 25.
Born in the crown of India-Jammu on 19 April 1956, Mukesh Rishi is a renowned Indian actor and producer, who works primarily in Hindi and Telugu films. He has also appeared in Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi and Tamil films. He got his first break in Hindi in 1993 with Gardish and has since, established himself as a notable actor, generally as a villain.
A graduate of Government College, Chandigarh, Mukesh initially worked in Mumbai before moving abroad to Fiji and New Zealand, where he explored modeling. However, his passion for acting drew him back to India, where he trained under Roshan Taneja. He made his debut in the Malayalam film Gandharvam (1993) and gained prominence in Bollywood with Gardish (1994).
Mukesh has carved a unique niche in Indian cinema with his commanding screen presence and versatile performances across Bollywood, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi, and Tamil films. Known for his powerful portrayals of antagonists, he has delivered unforgettable performances in films like Sarfarosh (1999) and the Telugu blockbuster Indra (2002). Despite his formidable on-screen image, Mukesh is widely respected for his humility and dedication to his craft.
Recognizing his significant contributions to Indian cinema and his roots in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory Government has honoured Mukesh with a prestigious award on 76th Republic Day celebrating his inspiring journey from the picturesque valleys of Jammu to becoming a cultural icon in the world of cinema.
