SRINAGAR, Feb 3: Police today filed a charge sheet against seven militant associates under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A) in the UA(P)A Court, Srinagar.

“The police said that the charge sheet pertains to Case FIR No. 31/2024, registered at Police Station Khanyar, under Sections 13, 18, 20, 23, and 38 of the UA(P) Act, along with Section 7/25 of the Arms Act. A total of eight accused were involved in the case, including a Pakistani terrorist operating under the code name Usman, who was neutralized in a police encounter”.
According to the police spokesman, charges have been formally filed against seven individuals for their involvement in various terror-related activities, while an abate challan has been submitted in connection with the deceased Pakistani terrorist.
The charge sheet was filed against Imran Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Qadir Mir of Ranghamam, Nowhatta; Muzamil Khursheed Wani son of Khursheed Ahmad of Nar Paristan, at present Beeruni Kathi Darwaza; Umer Asif Zargar son of Ghulam Mohammad of Kani Kadal, Chota Bazar; Qazi Usman son of Qazi Muzaffar of Haka Bazar; Shahid Nazir Kalla son of Nazir Ahmad Kalla of Babapora, Habakadal, Srinagar; Sheikh Furqan son of Sheikh Farooq Ahmad of Mir Mohalla, Khanyar, Srinagar; Asif Majeed Siraj son of Abdul Majeed of Maisuma and Usman, a Pakistan militant who was killed in the Khanyar encounter.
Police during the course of the investigation collected all forms of evidence leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition from the possession of the accused persons, including one pistol, three pistol magazines, 24 live rounds and three Chinese grenades.
Police spokesman said that the successful filing of the charge sheet marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation and reaffirms Srinagar Police’s commitment to combating terrorism and upholding the rule of law.
“J&K Police remains committed to combat terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of our people,” read the statement.
