GULMARG, Feb 3: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K continue its commitment to promoting winter sports by hosting its Annual Skiing Courses in Gulmarg and Sonamarg.
Director General of YSS, Rajinder Singh Tara, attended the vibrant closing ceremony of the second skiing course in Gulmarg, which saw 50 girl skiers from various districts of Jammu & Kashmir participate.
The DG expressed his satisfaction with the department’s ongoing efforts and the opportunity it provided for government school students to experience world-class skiing. “It is inspiring to see students, especially from underexposed backgrounds, gaining valuable experience on the internationally renowned slopes of Gulmarg,” he said.
Looking ahead, the DG announced plans to extend skiing training to Sonamarg and other popular tourist destinations like Pahalgam and Yousmarg, which would not only promote winter sports but also boost local tourism and economy.
The event also featured vibrant cultural performances by the girl trainees, adding to the festive spirit. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Hilal Ahmed Shah, Incharge of Gulmarg Hutments, acknowledging the DG’s motivational presence.
