SAMBA, Feb 4: To digitize the campus flora, SPPND Government Degree College today installed QR codes on various plant species.
The initiative is aimed to enhance environmental awareness and support the college’s sustainability goals by the Department of Botany of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Twinkle Suri, commended the efforts of Botany Department, exhorting that this sustainable and eco-friendly initiative contributes significantly to transforming our local landscape into an engaging educational space.
HoD Botany, Assoc. Prof Mala Bhasin, added that beyond its educational advantages, the project supports the college’s green initiatives by promoting eco-friendly practices and nurturing a profound connection with nature.
By simply scanning these QR codes with a Smartphone, students, faculty and visitors can access detailed information about each tree, including its species, age, ecological benefits, maintenance history and intriguing facts.
This seamless integration of technology and nature transforms the campus into an interactive learning environment, fostering a deeper connection between individuals and the natural world.
This initiative not only enriches the educational experience but also exemplifies the college’s commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative learning.
