JAMMU, Feb 5: Chief Judicial Magistrate Preet Simran K Grover today denied bail to a woman, who is accused in a shooting incident at Lale-Da-Bagh area that went viral on social media.
The court rejected the bail plea of Dazy Jamwal after hearing arguments from Advocate JP Gandhi for the applicant, Advocate Vikram Parihar for the UT, and Advocate AR Khan for the complainant.
The judge remarked that recent shooting incidents over minor disputes have raised serious concerns, stressing the need for strict legal action.
The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, stemmed from a land dispute already under legal consideration.
While civil remedies were available, the court emphasized the necessity of curbing such violence, which threatens public peace and security.
Highlighting the seriousness of the charges, including attempt to murder, the court noted that the accused acted with excessive force, which was unjustified.
Additionally, the court observed that the key aspects of the investigation are still pending, such as the victim’s statement and the recovery of the weapon used in the crime.
With co-accused absconding and the investigation at an early stage, the court decided to deny bail, citing the gravity of the offence and ongoing investigation.
