J&K’s Umar, Sharik in Indian squad for T20I Deaf Cricket Tri-Series

JAMMU, Feb 5: Two exceptional deaf cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir, Umar Ashraf and Sharik Majeed, are all set to represent India in the T20I Deaf Cricket Tri-Series, which will take place from March 2 to 8, 2025, in New Delhi. The series will see India competing against formidable teams from Australia and South Africa, offering a stage for the duo to showcase their skills on the international platform.
Umar Ashraf, a seasoned wicketkeeper-batter, has been a regular member of the Indian Deaf Cricket team for several seasons and will continue his important role in the upcoming series. In contrast, Sharik Majeed will be making his debut with the Indian squad, bringing fresh energy and talent to the team. Both cricketers have expressed their joy and excitement over their selection, with a commitment to delivering strong performances during the Tri-Series.
The T20I Tri-Series will be followed by a One-Day International Series against Australia, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on March 10, 11 and 12, 2025.
The Indian squad for the Deaf Cricket team includes 16 members, with Virender Singh (Captain), Sai Akash (Vice-Captain), and others from across the country. The team will attend a coaching camp in New Delhi from February 24 to March 1, 2025, to prepare for the upcoming international fixtures.
