J&K Police Seize Over 10 Kg Of Charas And Cash In Anantnag, Two Held

SRINAGAR, Feb 7: In its continuing war against the drug menace, Police have seized more than 10 Kgs of Charas and cash in two separate incidents from the drug peddlers in Jammu Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Police on Friday said that on a specific information received through reliable sources that one person Identified as Farooq Ahmad Kumar a resident of Khul Chohar Mattan has hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
Accordingly a case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act got registered in Police station Mattan and investigation taken up, police said.
On receipt of this information, a team comprising Anantnag Police and Executive Magistrate concerned was constituted, who carried out the search of the said house during which about 10 KGs of Charas powder and cash of Rs. 2, 16, 650 was recovered.
The owner of the house was arrested and contraband seized. Further investigation in the instant case continues.
Police also arrested a person identified as Shahrukh Ahmad Sheikh a resident of Sheikh Mohalla Sallar during checking at Langabal Pahalgam and recovered 120 grams of Charas from his possession.
A case was registered at Police station Pahalgam, and the accused has been arrested and contraband seized.
Police urged the public to continue supporting the efforts by reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities. (Agencies)
