KATHUA/JAMMU: Taking serious note of the suicide incident in Billawar, the District Magistrate of Kathua has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of Makhan, son of Murid.
“A magisterial probe is required in this case to ascertain the cause of death,” the DM said in an order.
According to the order issued on Thursday, Anil Kumar, Tehsildar Lohai Malhar, has been appointed as the inquiry magistrate to investigate the case. He has been directed to submit a detailed report within five days.
The inquiry will involve recording statements of all relevant individuals and following all necessary legal procedures, the order said.
Police have also ordered a time bound probe into the matter, led by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), officials said.
“With regard to the death (by suicide) of a person named Makhan, son of Mureed, resident of Salli, District Kathua, a fact-finding enquiry is ordered which shall be conducted by Shiv Kumar, IPS DIG JSK Range,” read an order issued by Staff Officer to Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Jammu.
“The enquiry officer shall submit his findings in 10 days,” read order issued on the approval of IGP Jammu Zone.
