JAMMU, Feb 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted multiple panels for the smooth conduct of 8th Economic Census in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per an order, these panels have been set up at the Union Territory level, Regional levels in Srinagar and Jammu, and at the District levels.
At the UT level, the order said, the Coordination Committee will be chaired by Chief Secretary, with key administrative secretaries from several departments, including School Education, Industries & Commerce, Housing & Urban Development, Planning & Monitoring, Labour & Employment, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Deputy Director General, J&K Regional Office, NSSO (FOD), Directors Industries and Commerce Jammu/Kashmir, and Directors School Education Jammu/Kashmir as Members and Director General of Economics & Statistics as the Member Secretary.
The UT-level committee will have a broad mandate, ensuring smooth operations during the Economic Census, the order said.
Key responsibilities of the committee include monitoring preparedness, overseeing technical challenges, ensuring adequate deployment of enumerators and supervisors, and supervising the field operations to maintain data accuracy. The committee will also be tasked with reviewing monthly progress reports.
To further streamline operations, two Regional Level Coordination Committees (RLCCs) have been established for Srinagar and Jammu, each chaired by the respective Regional Directors of Evaluation & Statistics.
These committees will focus on resolving administrative and technical issues in the field and ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders. They will also monitor progress on a monthly basis, develop a training framework for field personnel, and implement a data analytics system to facilitate accurate census reporting.
At the district level, the Deputy Commissioner will lead the District Level Coordination Committees (DLCCs).
The DLCCs will be responsible for providing feedback to the UT-level committee, coordinating with local authorities and law enforcement, ensuring proper mapping for data collection, and approving and disseminating provisional district-level census results.
Further, it has been ordered that the Planning Development & Monitoring Department will be the Nodal Department for overseeing the entire process and the Administrative Secretary of the department will serve as the primary contact at the UT level, with District Collectors taking charge at the district level.
