‘No pause in anti-terror ops till menace wiped out’
Society needs to play role in restoration of peace

JAMMU, Feb 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said today that Army is fully capable of dealing with any kind of situation on the borders and reiterated that development is not possible without peace. He called upon responsible persons in the society to play their role in restoration of peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a brief chat with media persons and address to a function after inaugurating first edition of Sikh Cricket Premier League here, Sinha declared that the Indian Army is fully capable to deal with any situation and is giving befitting response on the borders to enemy forces.

He said this while responding to questions on fresh skirmishes between Indo-Pak troops on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu districts in which an Army Captain and a soldier were martyred while three other jawans were injured. In retaliatory firing of the Indian troops, Pakistan army suffered heavy casualties.
“There will be no pause in anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said, adding that clear directions have been given to security agencies to wipe out the menace of terrorism and ensure peace and tranquillity in the region.
He said police and other security agencies are working in a close synergy and they have been given clear directions to wipe out terrorism and end this ecosystem.
“Top priority is to maintain peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is marching ahead along with the country, Sinha said there is a need to take right path which will take us to development and peace.
“I have repeatedly been saying that development is not possible without peace. Where there is no peace, there is no development. However, it is not possible for only administration and police to restore peace but responsible citizens of society must also come forward to help in restoration of peace,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He said India today has world’s third largest Startup ecosystem. Number of the Unicorns is also going up.
Sinha said India has today become fastest growing economy in the world with 6.5 percent Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The United Arab Emirates is at the number two with 5.5 percent GDP and China is at third place with 4.0 percent GDP. The developed and rich nation like the United States has GDP to the tune of 1.4 percent.
“During last 10-12 years, India has become fifth largest economy of the world from 11th and by 2030, it’s going to be third largest economy,” he said.
Sinha emphasised the role of Public-Private Partnerships to empower youth by improving infrastructure, providing opportunities and opening up new avenues in diverse sectors in the Union Territory.
“Public-Private Partnerships can provide us an extensive network of skilling and entrepreneurship projects and we can take these facilities to the grassroots levels,” he said.
He said he strongly believes that socio-economic goals of development and empowerment of youth should be made through public-private partnerships.
“In 2020 I had initiated Public-Private Partnership projects. Even today, we are also creating an enabling policy environment in which youth’s concerns can be reflected and redressed in a speedy manner,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
