JAMMU, Feb 17: Three persons, including a woman, from Jammu died and two others sustained injuries, one of them seriously, when a vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a rashly driven bus near the Yamuna Expressway interchange in Tappal Town of Aligarh District in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

A senior police official from Aligarh told the EXCELSIOR that the accident happened around 1:30 PM when a Hyundai Venue car (JK02CS-8070) was hit from the backside by a rashly driven bus coming from the Agra side.

The deceased—all Mahakumbh devotees—who were on way to Jammu in their personal vehicle, were travelling to Greater Noida from Agra using the Yamuna Expressway when the incident happened, he said.
According to the UP Police official, the collision of the two vehicles was so strong that the car was blown into pieces, leaving three persons dead on the spot and two others injured, one of them grievously.
Immediately after the accident, he said, locals informed the police to shift the injured to Kailash Hospital in the Jewar area of Aligarh, where they are undergoing treatment.
The condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical, he said.
The police identified the deceased as retired Chief Engineer (DIQC Jammu) Padam Nabh Bali (67), son of Satguru Prakash, of House number 70, Sector 14, Nanak Nagar, Jammu; retired engineer Yudhveer Gupta (69), son of Ram Chander Gupta, of House number 35, Sector 1, Ward number 53, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu; and retired teacher Savita Devi (65), wife of BR Sharma, of House number 31, Sector 2, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The injured have been identified as retired engineer BR Sharma (71), son of ML Sharma; and Ritu Gupta wife of Yudhveer Gupta, of House number 35, Sector 1, Ward number 53, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
After conducting the post-mortem examinations, the police official said that the bodies of the deceased have been dispatched to Jammu, and their family members are informed.
The family members of the deceased claimed that the bodies will reach Jammu around midnight, and the cremation will be performed tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the UP police have seized the bus, arrested its cleaner, while the driver of the vehicle is absconding.
A case under the relevant sections of the law has also been registered at Police Station Tappal and further investigation started.
