Full Court reference held to condole demise of Justice V K Gupta

JAMMU, Feb 18: A Full Court reference was held today in the court room of Chief Justice at Jammu Wing of the High Court to condole the sad demise of Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta, former Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and former Chief Justice, High Courts of Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, who passed away on 15.02.2025, at the age of 77, after a brief illness at Delhi.
On this occasion, Senior Additional Advocate General and the President, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu in their condolence addresses remembered the contributions of Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Sr. Additional Advocate General on behalf of Government Advocates offered condolences on the demise of Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta and prayed for his eternal peace and strength to the bereaved family. The President, J&K High Court Bar Association also offered condolences on his behalf and on behalf of the Bar executives and other Bar members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, in his condolence address remembered the contribution and qualities of late Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta, as a Judge and as a human being. The Chief Justice said that Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta’s unwavering commitment to the law, tireless work ethic, and dedication to justice has left an indelible mark on our community.
“As a Judge, Justice Gupta was known for his wisdom, fairness, and integrity, upholding the highest standards of the judiciary. Justice Gupta’s work not only shaped legal precedents but also inspired those around him to serve with the same dedication and honour,” the Chief Justice added.
The Chief Justice on his behalf and on behalf of other Judges of the High Court prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
The Judges from Srinagar Bench joined the Full Court Reference proceedings virtually. The Full Court proceedings ended with observance of two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul and the court work was suspended for rest of the day.
