RKFC defeats Namdhari FC by 1-0 in I-League

SRINAGAR, Feb 18: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) secured a 1-0 victory over Namdhari FC in an I-League match at TRC Ground, Srinagar, continuing their unbeaten home run. With this win, the Snow Leopards moved to second place on the points table with 26 points from 15 matches.
The match’s only goal came in the 7th minute when Brazilian striker Paulo Cézar converted a penalty after Karim Samb was fouled inside the box by Namdhari’s Joseph Gordon. Cézar’s calm finish sent goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh the wrong way, marking his sixth goal of the season.
RKFC nearly doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Karim Samb, set up by Asrar Rehber, rounded the goalkeeper but was denied by former RKFC defender Lamine Moro’s last-minute tackle. The Snow Leopards kept pressing, with Mohammad Inam threatening in attack, but their attempts were blocked by Namdhari’s defense and goalkeeper.
In the second half, Cledson Carvalho da Silva of Namdhari FC posed a threat, but RKFC’s defense, led by Muhammad Hammad, successfully blocked his efforts.
After the match, RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad expressed pride in the win against a strong opponent, while club owner Arshid Shawl emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent.
