JAMMU, Feb 19: The 1st Sikh Premier Cricket League witnessed thrilling cricketing action as Dashmesh Cricket Club and Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club emerged victorious in their respective matches, continuing to dominate the competition.
In the opening encounter, Dashmesh Cricket Club put up an impressive performance to defeat Preet Nagar Cricket Club by 43 runs. Batting first, Dashmesh posted a challenging total of 189/6 in 20 overs. The star of the innings was Kawal Preet Singh, who scored a quickfire 69 runs off 35 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes. Chamkor Singh’s brisk 40 off 18 balls, with 7 fours and a six, also contributed significantly to the total. Skipper Gurvinder Singh added 25 runs to the score. For Preet Nagar, Gursimran Singh was the top scorer with 57 runs off 43 balls, while Daman Preet Singh contributed 38 runs off 28 balls. In reply, Preet Nagar could only manage 146 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Gunny’s brilliant bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for just 9 runs in his 4 overs, was instrumental in Dashmesh’s victory. Kawal Preet Singh was named Player of the Match.
In the second match of the day, Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club chased down a target of 185 runs to defeat Trikuta Cricket Club by 4 wickets. Vernpal Singh played a match-winning knock of 65 runs off 37 balls, supported by Amit Pal Singh (36) and Rakinder Singh (34*). Earlier, Trikuta had set a competitive total of 184/5 in 20 overs, with Ammy Singh scoring a magnificent 90 runs off 48 balls, including 13 fours and 3 sixes. For Hari Singh Nalwa CC, Gurdeep Singh took 2 wickets, while Vernpal Singh’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
The dignitaries present at the event included Visheshpaul Mahajan (Transport Commis-sioner), Pankaj Bhagora (RTO Jammu), Faisal Qureshi (SSP) and Kameshwar Puri (SSP), who presented trophies and cheques to the players of the match.
