JAMMU, Feb 19: The residents of Pir Panchal today demanded the immediate opening of Mughal road connecting Kashmir valley with Pirpanchal region.
The demand was raised by the locals of Pir Panchal region in a press conference held here today.
Addressing to the media persons, Shafiq Mir, ex-chairman, Block Development Council, Bufliaz said that even Leh and Kargil roads were kept functional this year, but only Mughal road has been kept closed by authorities without any reason due to which the people of this region were suffering badly particularly patients, students and traders.
He said, “When there was no snowfall on the road, then why this road has been kept closed which means people of the region have been deliberately made to suffer.”
Mir said that there are eight MLAs from Pir Panchal region including two Cabinet Ministers, but none of them spoke a single word till now on the opening of this road.
“Those who are not capable of restoring traffic moment on a road closed for months were busy in staging a fake drama of signature campaign for restoration of Statehood,” he said.
While demanding the immediate opening of Mughal road, Shafiq Mir has asked authorities to open this road immediately and don’t force people to come on streets.
Among others who were present during the conference included Murtaza Khan and Sikander Noorani.
