JAMMU, Feb 20: To promote fitness, Range Police Headquarters, Jammu, organized a marathon under the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” in Akhnoor, here today. The event, part of the Civic Action Programme-2025, was conducted under the direction of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Rajinder Singh Katoch, SO to DIG JSK Range.
The 5-kilometer marathon began at Police Station Akhnoor, heading towards New Bridge Ambaran Road and returning to the starting point. The Marathon saw an overwhelming response from participants of all age groups, reinforcement the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. Women participants were also a notable part of the event.
SSP Rajinder Singh Katoch highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating that the marathon aimed to engage youth and marginalized groups in positive activities, encouraging them to stay fit and away from drugs.
At the end of the event, participants received T-shirts, refreshments and cash prizes. Surya Dev Singh was awarded the first prize, followed by Sikander Singh in second and Vansh Verma in third. Consolation prizes were given to Manavi Sharma and Radhika Sharma. Prominent citizens, including SHO Police Station Akhnoor, Insp. Rohit Gandhi and other police officials, attended the event.
