Srinagar, Feb 20: Police today attached properties of drug peddlers in South Kashmir.
Police in Anantnag attached a double-storey under-construction residential house belonging to Abdul Majeed Bhat, son-in-law of Mohammad Ahsan Ganaie, resident of Cheenigund, Srigufwara.

A police spokesman said that the property, spread over 1 Kanal of land and valued at Rs 1 crore, has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, as it has been linked to proceeds from drug trafficking.

“The accused is involved in a major narcotics case registered under FIR No. 68/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara, wherein a substantial quantity of contraband substances was recovered.”

Police in Shopian also attached a double-storey residential house worth over two lakh rupees and cash around Rs 15 lakh of notorious drug peddlers in the district.
The police spokesman said that a residential house of worth Rs 22,17,827 and cash amount of Rs. 14,52,100 belonging to a notorious drug peddlers Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Yawer Ahmad Malik and Shahid-ul-Islam Malik, sons of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, residents of Melhura Zainapora, were attached
“The action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.”
The spokesman said that the property attachment is linked to FIR No.54/ 2021 & 87/ 2023 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Shopian police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner,” the spokesman said.
“This action reaffirms the commitment of police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immovable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Shopian district.”
