SAMBA, Feb 21: Police in Bari Brahmana area here claimed to have solved a theft case, apprehending four accused and recovering stolen items worth approximately Rs 7 lakhs from their possession.
A police official said on February 15, one Ganesh Kumar Sharma of Palli, Bari Brahmana, filed a complaint at the Bari Brahmana Police Station about the theft of gold and silver ornaments from his house.
On this, he said, a case was registered and an investigation began. Followed by this, the police official said, a police team used technical and human intelligence to identify and arrest three suspects identified as Rajneesh Sharma, Goutam Sharma, both from Palli Bari Brahmana, and one other.
During questioning, they admitted to their involvement in the theft and named one Aryan Vaid, a goldsmith from Vijaypur, as the person who purchased the stolen items, he said.
Following their confessions, the police arrested Aryan Vaid and recovered gold ornaments weighing 47.18 grams, silver ornaments weighing 230 grams, and Rs 2, 69, 230 in cash, totalling around Rs 7 lakh, he said.
Further investigation into the case is underway, added the police official.
The case was worked out under the supervision of SSP Samba Varinder Manhas.
