Dashmesh Club lifts 1st Sikh Cricket Premier League title

JAMMU, Feb 23: Dashmesh Cricket Club triumphed over Veenu Cricket Club (VCC) Tral by a commanding margin of 68 runs to claim the coveted title in the exciting finale of the 1st Sikh Cricket Premier League. The match, held at Jammu University ground, was organized by Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club under the banner of the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee.
Dashmesh Club, winning the toss, opted to bat first. After losing opener Chamkor Singh for a duck, the team was anchored by a brilliant partnership between Amandeep Singh and Kawal Preet Singh. Amandeep top-scored with a steady 76 runs off 56 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Kawal Preet, contributing with both bat and ball, added a vital 47 runs off 32 balls, which featured 3 fours and 3 sixes. Dashmesh Club finished their innings at 181 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Extras contributed 28 runs to the total.
VCC Tral, in reply, was bowled out for just 113 runs, losing the match by 68 runs. Vishupal Singh (31), Sahil Singh (23), and Sumit (15) were the top scorers for VCC. For Dashmesh Club, Kawal Preet Singh, Chamkor Singh, and Kulvinder Singh claimed 2 wickets each, while Panku, Gunny, and Gurpreet took 2 wickets for VCC.
Kawal Preet’s all-round brilliance earned him the Player of the Match, Player of the Tournament, and Best Batsman awards. Gurpreet bagged the Best Bowler award for his exceptional performance with the ball.
Mahant Manjit Singh was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while MLA Vikram Randhawa, MLA Dr. Narinder Singh, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, senior police officers Shakti Kumar Pathak, Nitish Kumar, Vikramjeet Singh and Bhim Sen Tutti (IGP Jammu) were the guests of honour while Kawaljeet Singh Bali, Col. Amreshwar Singh and SP South Ajay Sharma were also present.
The dignitaries presented the trophies and cheques to the winners and runners-up teams. The tournament was officiated by a panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, including Suresh Singh, Jagtar Singh, Satpal Singh, Venus, Gurvinder Singh (all umpires) and Rajesh Dhar (match referee).
