2 theft cases solved within 24 hours, 5 accused arrested

REASI, Mar 2: Reasi Police successfully solved two theft cases within 24 hours, arresting five accused and recovering stolen property worth Rs 3.20 lakhs.
On February 28, 2025, a written complaint was lodged by Rahul Suri of Reasi, reporting theft of his Honda Activa scooty from near Kabir Temple, Reasi.
Through relentless efforts and the use of technical surveillance, two accused persons namely Sabar Ali son of Abdul Kareem and Gulam Mustafa son of Mir Mohd of Mansoo, Reasi were apprehended. During interrogation, both confessed to their involvement in the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen Honda Activa Scooty worth Rs 70,000 from Anji Kayala.
In other case, Reasi Police received information on March 1, 2025, via WhatsApp regarding the theft of a concrete mixer machine worth Rs 2.50 lakhs from Haji Morh, Simbal Chowa, during the intervening night of February 27-28, 2025.
With the help of local network and technical analysis , three accused persons were identified and arrested. Upon sustained interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the theft, and on their disclosure, the stolen mixer machine was recovered from Dharmari, Arnas. The arrested accused were identified as Sajad Ahmed son of Latief Ahmed resident of Mansoo, Reasi, Mohd Rashid son of Ghulam Mohd of Mansoo, Reasi and Mohd Arif son of Fazal Din of Tanda, Dera Baba, Reasi.
The theft cases were successfully worked out by the Police team, led by SHO Reasi, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the supervision of Dy SP Headquarters Vishal Singh Jamwal.
Sharing details, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh said that further investigation to unearth linkages of the accused with other theft cases in district Reasi is going on and more arrests as well as recoveries are not ruled out in the case.
