Cabinet meets today to approve budgetary proposals

*To be sent to LG for nod

JAMMU, Mar 2: The UT Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will meet here tomorrow afternoon to discuss and finalize budgetary proposals which will be submitted to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approval.
The budget will be presented by Omar, who holds charge of the Finance Department, in the Assembly on March 7.
Sources told the Excelsior that the Cabinet meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister will be held at 2 PM on Monday in the Civil Secretariat here.
First day of the budget session is expected to be over around 1 PM after obituary reference tomorrow.

“The Cabinet will discuss the budgetary proposals including promises and guarantees the National Conference had made with the people during Assembly elections,” the sources said, adding the Government is expected to start implementation of its promises in phased manner from the budget.
The budget to be presented by the Chief Minister will definitely find the promises and guarantees made by the National Conference, they said.
After the Cabinet nod, the budgetary proposals will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.
The budget will go to the press after approval by the LG.
Only yesterday, the Chief Minister met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed with him the budget session as well as budgetary proposals.
Omar will present the budget in the Assembly on March 7. The budget is scheduled to be listed for passing in form of the Appropriation Bill in the House on March 25 after which the Assembly will have 12 days break and meet again on April 7. The House will be adjourned sine die on April 11.
Jammu and Kashmir’s budget for 2024-25 is to the tune of Rs 1,18,728 crore.
