Srinagar, Mar 3: Police today arrested a drug dealer of New Delhi in connection with investigation of a drug peddling case wherein drugs were delivered by courier and elsewhere arrested four drug peddlers across the Valley.
A police spokesman said that during investigation of the narcotics case registered under FIR No 01/2025 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act in Karan Nagar Police station, involvement of Mohammad Zaid son of Mohammad Jameel resident of Okhla Vihar, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi surfaced, who was arrested in the case.
Police have obtained his remand from the competent court. “J&K Police reiterates its commitment to go to the last mile and bring to justice anyone and everyone involved in drug peddling be he or she in any part of the world,” the spokesman added.
In the meantime, Police today arrested 4 drug peddlers in Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam, recovering charas and cannabis from their possession.
In Shopian, a police party from Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established at Nagesharan crossing intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK02C-8316.
“During checking, contraband substance like Charas powder was recovered from the first-aid tool kit of the motorcycle,” police said.
The pillion riders disclosed their identities as Mohammad Lateef Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Bongam, Shopian and Tauseef Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wagey resident of New Colony, Largam.
In Kulam, a Police team from Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Byepass, intercepted a suspicious person.
After searching, 2.5 kilograms of Cannabis Husk-like substance filled in the bag was recovered from his possession, police said.
He has been identified as Mohd Amin Bhat son of Mohd Abdullah Bhat resident of Shamsipora, Bijbehara.
Similarly, in Budgam, a Police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established a Rankipora, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
He has been identified as Mohammad Saleem Shah son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah resident of Pati Sail Beerwah.
