The upcoming “Waste to Wonder Park” in Jammu is a groundbreaking initiative that promises to redefine both waste management and tourism in the region. Spearheaded by Jammu Smart City Limited, this ambitious project will be developed on a 40-kanal encumbrance-free land in Bhagwati Nagar, following the decision to relocate it from Nagrota due to forest clearance issues. Replicas of 14 international, national and local monuments will be created entirely from scrap materials, including iron pipes, machine parts, e-waste, and rubber tyres. Beyond aesthetics, the park aims to serve as a holistic recreational hub with facilities such as an administrative block, ticketing counter, food courts, an open-air theatre, adventure zones for children and water points. Another commendable aspect is the project’s execution under the Public-Private Partnership model with financial backing through the Viability Gap Fund Scheme.
