JAMMU, Mar 7: In a major relief to patients suffering from hearing disability, Govt. Medical College Rajouri distributed 90 hearing aids to the poor needy patients.
The patients were selected after thorough screening by the Audiological section of ENT Department. The patients many of them from tribal population came from distant remote hilly areas including Badhaal, Chasana, Khawas, Mendhar & Darhal areas of district Rajouri.
HoD of ENT Dr Vidhushi Badyal gave a brief description of the activities conducted during this period. A 6 Years old child Dinesh Kumar from Khawas could hear the sound first time in his lifetime with the use of hearing aids. He is now being sent to a rehabilitation centre for further learning.
Another 70 Years old women Vidya Devi from Nowshera was excited to hear the sound again after she lost the hearing ability few years back because of old age.
While speaking, Principal Medical College Rajouri Prof (Dr) A S Bhatia said such type of camps will empower these poor patients to live a normal life. He thanked NGO voluntary Medicare society and Sanjeev Gupta from J&K Bank Rajouri for selecting GMC Rajouri for distribution of free hearing aids and appreciated the role of Dr Vidhushi Badyal for organising such camps.
Dr Shamim Ahmed Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri provided all logistic support for conducting the camp. With conclusion of this camp, 90 people were able to hear the voice of their nears and dears and expressed their gratitude to the Administration and Department of ENT for coming to their rescue and making them able to live a normal life.
