JAMMU: On the direction of SSP Jammu, SP South launched a focused operation code-named “Ploughing”, aimed at cracking down on illegal mining activities in the region. The operation was headed by SDPO South and SDPO East and executed by the Sub-units of South Zone i.e. SHOs and ICPPs, resulting in a significant seizure of vehicles engaged in illegal mining.

In the series of operations conducted across the South Zone, police teams seized 01 JCB machine, 08 tractor-trollies, and 04 dumpers involved in unauthorized mining activities.
Police post Belicharana intercepted 02 tractor-trollies while transporting illegally excavated material, PP Greater Kailash intercepted 01 tractor trolley, Police post Chatta intercepted 01 tractor trolley, Police post Sanik colony intercepted 01 tractor trolley, Police post Chatha intercepted 04 Dumpers along with 01 tractor trolley and Police post Phallian Mandal successfully detained 02 tractor trolleys and 01 JCB machine engaged in illicit excavation.
Following the seizure, the District Mining Officer was informed for further legal proceedings and some vehicles were also detained under MV act. Police teams have also been directed to intensify patrols in vulnerable areas to prevent future violations.
Jammu Police remains committed to protecting public resources and taking stringent action against those involved in illegal mining. Citizens are urged to report any such activities to their nearest police station or control room.
