GDC Neeli Nallah organizes awareness workshop

Jammu, Mar 12: GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized awareness workshop for Women highlighting recognition and celebration of women’s achievements and contributions to society. The event was conducted under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. Dr. Seema Arora, emphasizing the need to uplift women in all spheres of life.
The girl students of the college participated in District level competition organized by Special Cell of Women, District Police Udhampur where students delivered Dogri Dance on the stage in front of Saloni Rai, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, other invited guests and local community.
Prizes were awarded to the students by the DC Udhampur, for their exceptional performance. The students were accompanied by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Convenor Cultural Committee. Following this, on the same day, a counselling session for girls was organized in the college to encourage critical thinking, public speaking and awareness about women’s right and empowerment.
In continuation to this, two days Workshop was organized in collaboration with Apex Body of Sparsh, Cluster University of Jammu. The event was structured into two insightful sessions each focusing on crucial aspects on women empowerment. The first session commenced with an online awareness lecture delivered by the resource person Dr Jyoti Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce from University of Jammu.
She delivered a highly inspiring and motivating lecture, emphasizing the career options for the girls students and the challenges faced by women. The lecture was well-received by the students who were encouraged to think critically about to take action to promote positive change.
Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Chairperson, Apex Body of Sparsh, Cluster University of Jammu was the resource person. The second session was dedicated into the pressing issues concerning women empowerment, societal expectations and the role of education in enabling women to break barriers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal said that “We have celebrated this event to reaffirm our commitment to building a future where women and men stand together as equals. We believe that empowering women is essential to creating a more just and equitable society.”
The events were successfully coordinated by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Prof. Rekha Sharma and Prof. Shaista Yasmeen. Others who were present in the event include Dr. Akhter Hussain, and Dr. Mohd Mubariq.
